After the 49ers lost Talanoa Hufanga suffered a torn ACL, ending his 2023 season, the team signed a defensive back to stop the bleeding. Veteran safety Logan Ryan was signed as a free agent to help the team into their playoff push.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
Ryan was the 83rd pick of the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots. He played for four seasons with the team, winning two Super Bowls against the Seahawks and Falcons. Then, he bounced around to the Titans, Giants and Buccaneers.
In 2022, Ryan he played in nine games and started six. He grabbed one interception, three pass defenses, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 37 tackles. His career high in picks came in his rookie season, when he had five.
