The Las Vegas Raiders have moved on from head coach Jon Gruden. Multiple emails sent by Gruden have surfaced that reportedly contain racist, homophobic and misogynistic language. These led him to, apparently, step down from the position.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the news via Twitter on Monday night.
Raiders owner Mark Davis arrived at the team’s facility a couple of hours ago and went to find Jon Gruden, per source. The two men met. And Gruden no longer will be the Raiders’ head coach.

In the emails in question, Gruden referred to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell using a homophobic slur. He voiced an opinion that Eric Reid, who demonstrated during the national anthem, should be fired. There were also comments disparaging female referees, among other inflammatory language.
Gruden was hired for his second stint with the (then Oakland) Raiders in 2018. The 10-year, $10 million contract was record shattering and also included a no-trade clause, as Gruden was famously traded by the Raiders during his first stint as coach there. After that trade, he went on to win a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, their first in franchise history.
Las Vegas’ interim coach will reportedly be assistant coach Rich Bisaccia. Stay tuned to TGH for more on this developing story.
