It’s now the Jets’ turn to unveil their newest looks. As the season approaches, a few teams have released new uniforms, including throwbacks. The Jets now have a throwback look that goes with their alternate helmet, which was allowed by the NFL during the last offseason.
PFF’s Ari Meirov reported the news and shared pictures via Twitter on Monday.
The throwback look is inspired by the “New York Sack Exchange” Jets of the early 1980s. This nickname was given to the defensive line of these teams, headed up by Gastineau, Lyons, Kleko and Salaam. They’ll be worn during Week 1 (primetime game against the Bills) and Week 4 (primetime game against the Chiefs).
Their decision to unleash these uniforms during two of the first four weeks of the season is almost certainly an acknowledgement of the team’s extremely tough schedule through the first six weeks. The Jets are not shying away from the expectations set by their new quarterback, Aaron Rodgers.
Stay tuned for more breaking NFL content, including offseason moves, contract updates and more news from every team.
