If there was a perfect time, this seems to be it for Ara. They are releasing with plenty of time before Civilization 7 in order to build out a fan base and feed a group that has been waiting for a potential successor. With Humankind also not completely filling the bellies of Civ fans, Ara will be the last opportunity before Civ 7 potentially takes control for the next few years.

In fact, it will be on Game Pass on Day One. That means that if you are already subscribed then you will be able to play the game right when it releases. The release time seems to be a bit up in the air but as of now it looks like it will be around 11 am est on that Tuesday. There is no doubt that many fans with Game Pass will be giving this one a chance and surely they will push it since it is made by Microsoft.
It is hard not to make comparisons to Civ with Ara History Untold’s Gameplay.
In truth the game almost looks like a combination between Civilization and a little Crusader Kings or something similar. You will be settling areas instead of building your borders yourself. There is little doubt that this will be a positive for some and a major negative for others. They have promised that many of the borders are a lot more natural in terms of the river or mountains dictating where they are. Either way, the gameplay certainly looks fresh and will add quite a bit for fans of this style of game.
