Cornerback Jamel Dean will stay a Buccaneer in 2023-2024. Reports indicate that he is re-signing with the team on a four-year, $52 million deal. This is his first long-term contract since he was drafted by Tampa in 2019.
The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
As stated above, Dean was a third round draft pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. He was a key defensive piece in the playoff run that resulted in Tampa Bay winning Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Last season, Dean saw work in 15 of 17 games, recorded two picks, eight pass defenses and 57 combined tackles. Despite being a solid corner, Dean has yet to make a Pro Bowl or an All-Pro team. Among salary cap woes for the Bucs, he won’t be a casualty.
