One of the biggest strategies in fantasy football is streaming defenses. Each week owners will look at matchups and make waiver wire acquisitions to find their starting defense. Here are fantasy football defenses to stream week 3. (Note: All defenses mentioned are owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues. Stats from before Monday Night Football)
1. Green Bay Packers
The Packers have played the Eagles and Colts so far this season. In week 1 against the Eagles in Brazil, they totaled four fantasy points. For their home opener against the Colts, they did better with 10 fantasy points. They have five interceptions and three sacks through two weeks of play.
Green Bay plays the Tennessee Titans in week 3. The Titans scored 17 points in each of their first two games. Quarterback Will Levis has thrown three interceptions so far this season and has trouble protecting the football. With the Packers specializing in taking the ball away so far, they can have a huge game against the Titans. They are rostered in 5.7 percent of ESPN leagues.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers have played the Commanders and Lions. They scored four fantasy points against the Commanders and then followed that up with a four-point performance against the Lions. Tampa Bay has two sacks and two interceptions so far this season.
The week 3 matchup for the Buccaneers is with the Denver Broncos. Denver is scoring just 13 points per game through two weeks. Rookie quarterback Bo Nix has thrown four interceptions this season, making him a liability to throw more. The Bucs don’t have the best defense, but the matchup is worth watching. They are rostered in just 3.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
3. Chicago Bears
The Bears have played the Titans and Texans in the first two weeks of the season. In week 1, they scored 26 points against the Titans and then totaled five points against the Texans. While their performance against the Titans bolsters them, the Bears have totaled six sacks and two interceptions.
In week 3, the Bears play the Indianapolis Colts. Anthony Richardson has struggled to see the field clearly and has thrown interceptions. Chicago’s talented secondary can take advantage and make things tough for the Colts’ offense. The Bears are available in around 65 percent of ESPN leagues.
4. Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have played two tough road games against the Chargers and the Ravens. They walked away with one fantasy point in week 1 and three in week 2. Las Vegas has three sacks and an interception this season.
In week 3, the Raiders take on the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers are averaging just 6.5 points per game and look lost offensively. Bryce Young has been benched with Andy Dalton getting the starting nod. Caroina will still be limited offensively. The Raiders are rostered in just 4.1 percent of ESPN leagues.
5. Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati has matched up with the Patriots and Chiefs in their first two games of the season. They scored four against the Patriots and 10 against the Chiefs. So far this season, they have three sacks and two interceptions.
Week 3 has the Bengals playing the Washington Commanders at home. The Commanders are scoring 20.5 points per game, which is solid, but all 21 points in week 2 were scored on field goals. Jayden Daniels has played solidly for a rookie, but the Bengals have done solidly against running quarterbacks before. The Bengals can be started in desperation this week. They are rostered in 31.6 percent of ESPN leagues.
