The Houston Texans could not reach a contract agreement with pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney and they have decided to trade him. Seattle has acquired Clowney for a third-round pick, linebacker Jacob Martin pass rusher and Barkevious Mingo. The deal was first reported by Fox’s Jay Glazer.
Scoopage: SEA & HOU have agreed to trade parameters re: Jadeveon Clowney contingent upon Clowney & other players involved passing physicals. Still lot of moving parts but believed Clowney, who rejected going to Miami at first, is headed for his physical with Hawks. @NFLONFOX

Per Glazer, Clowney did not want to be traded to Miami and preferred going to Seattle. The 26-year-old pass rusher has 29 sacks in his five seasons in Houston. The Texans were unwilling to pay him to be one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL.
Seattle did not have to give up much to get Clowney, as he had all the leverage by choosing what team he was traded to. Without Frank Clark, who is now a Chief, the Seahawks needed more pass rush help before the season.
