The Dallas Cowboys are acquiring a five-time Pro Bowl cornerback in a trade. Indianapolis is reportedly only receiving a 2023 fifth-round compensatory pick in return for Stephon Gilmore. He’s owed over $9 million on the last year of his current contract.
Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday.
Gilmore began his career as a Buffalo Bill after being drafted 10th overall back in 2012. After five years there, he joined their rival, the New England Patriots, winning Super Bowl 53 during his four years there. He signed with the Colts in 2021.
In 2022, he played in 16 of 17 games, collecting two interceptions, 11 pass deflections and 66 tackles. Gilmore also has two First Team All-Pro selections under his belt along with a 2019 Defensive Player of the Year award.
