The Philadelphia Eagles accomplished getting one solid receiver in Zach Pascal, but they are still going to need some help at the position. They need another elite receiver that will bring them similar production to Devonta Smith or maybe more. The Miami Dolphins made a shocking trade acquiring Tyreek Hill from the Kansas City Chiefs. This has the NFL world wondering if they would be willing to trade DeVante Parker to free up some cap space. The Philadelphia Eagles have some draft picks to offer, and it would be wise for Philadelphia to at least try to make an offer for DeVante Parker that would put receiving in great shape.
How did Parker do in 2021?
The 2021 season was not great to DeVante Parker as he lost a significant amount of playing time due to injuries. He was out for multiple weeks with a hamstring injury in November. Even though he only started in eight games this season he still did decent for missing a good amount of the season. He had 515 receiving yards and two touchdowns. If he would have stayed healthy Parker could have very well had a 1,000-yard receiving season. He has only had one of them in his career which was in 2019. He had 1,202 receiving yards that year along with nine touchdowns. If the Dolphins do decide to trade Parker, any team that gets him will be happy with the production he brings to the field when he is healthy.
What skills would Parker bring to Philly?
Parker would bring a lot to this Philadelphia team. Firstly, Parker is a playmaker. There has been plenty of times where he has made amazing catches throughout the season. Whether that is a tough catch where he must keep his feet in bounds or an acrobatic catch down the field.
Furthermore, Parker has speed and is solid at running his routes. This gives him the ability to break away from defenders and give himself the chance to make a catch. The man also has great hands which is why he can make those acrobatic catches that was mentioned earlier. Parker brings consistency which the Eagles lacked in 2021. Furthermore, him and Devonta Smith would be a nightmare for any opposing defense.
What is the likelihood of this trade?
Several teams are interested in Parker which means the Eagles will have to really sweeten the deal. Luckily the Eagles have enough assets to do just that as they have a lot of high-end draft picks. It also just depends on how interested the Eagles organization is in acquiring Parker. You would think it would be pretty high as they want another game-changing receiver on their roster. On the other hand, Miami may not even want to trade Parker. The Dolphins starting receiving core right now is a beast as the Dolphins have Jaylen Waddle and newly acquired Tyreek Hill as well. However, the Dolphins must think about cap space and other positions they need fill which makes things very interesting. The Philadelphia Eagles have not been successful in getting a high-end receiver thus far, but this DeVante Parker situation could well be their golden opportunity.
