The Chiefs’ shopping spree continues, as they have locked up Chris Jones on a four year contract extension. The Kansas City defensive tackle’s new deal is worth up to $85 million, with $60 million guaranteed.
The NFL’s Ian Rapoport reported the news via Twitter on Tuesday, after the details of the deal were made public.
The #Chiefs and star DT Chris Jones have reached an agreement on a 4-year extension worth $85M, per the Katz Bros. $60M total guarantee upon signing. A long time coming, but Jones gets his deal, and KC locks in a big one. 💰💰💰

Jones had his first Pro Bowl season in 2019, with four passes defended, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and nine sacks. Especially impressive is racking up these numbers in only 13 games (12 starts).
He was a big part of the Chiefs’ defense on their way to a 12-4 season and a Super Bowl victory. This and his steady production led to a huge deal, on top of the record-shattering deal Kansas City already gave to Patrick Mahomes.
Mahomes signed a 10-year extension worth up to $503 million, by far the largest in NFL history. With Jones now locked up for four of those 10 years, the Chiefs will have to watch their salary cap closely if they want to turn their Super Bowl LIV victory into a dynasty.
