The Kansas City Chiefs end there preseason schedule against the Green Bay Packers at 8 P.M. Thursday night. Many teams play the last game of the preseason in different ways, there is no telling what we will see Thursday night. But there are some things that we can expect to see in this Chiefs vs. Packers Preseason matchup.
Quarterback Play
In the first two weeks of preseason play we have yet to see the former league MVP Aaron Rodgers make his appearance. The team officially stated that Rodgers and other key starters will not be playing in the final preseason game. This means that former first-round pick Jordan Love will receive his third consecutive preseason start as he has been very up and down during his time on the field. Love will most likely see the complete first half, maybe even taking snaps in the third quarter. This is what Packers fans will be looking forward to the most as many are skeptical of Love’s future as a starter.
On the other hand, the Kansas City Chiefs have not been shy about playing their former MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes played basically the entire first half during week 2 and that is most likely what will happen again. Andy Reid likes to prepare his starters for the start of the season and with the preseason schedule being condensed he had one less game to do so. One other option that we may see is Mahomes playing less time in this game to prevent any injury possibility. He might only play the first quarter or even the first drive depending on what the coaching staff wants to do.
Players to watch
With the preseason coming to an end, many players will make their final pushes for a roster spot. Many of them are rookies, some rookies have made their presence felt in camp and have solidified a roster spot. Many Chiefs rookies like Isiah Pacheco and Skyy Moore have done so. Some rookies on the Packers such as Rasheed Walker and Samori Toure may find themselves on the bottom looking up.
Some other players to focus on may include Packers quarterback Jordan Love as he attempts to prove his doubters wrong. And some veterans like Josh Gordon who has yet to have a long stay with a team due to off-the-field issues may be needing a final preseason push.
But with any preseason game, some unknown players will always find a way to show their talents and make the final roster. The front office will make a lot of those decisions will be made in this Chiefs vs. Packers Preseason matchup.
