The Chicago Bears signed wide receiver Marquise Goodwin on Friday to a one-year contract.
Goodwin has played for three teams over his eight year career, most recently with the San Francisco 49ers. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason, but opted out of the 2020 NFL Season due to COVID-19. He once again signed with the 49ers in March 2021, only to be released one day later.
Marquise Goodwin, a former track star, is best known for his speed. However, he has translated his athletic abilities into a solid football career. Since 2016, he has racked up 120 receptions, 1974 yards and 10 touchdowns despite injury struggles.
Goodwin adds speed and a strong deep threat to a Bears roster that needs depth in their receiving corps. He is quite injury-prone, causing him to be more of a role player than anything. Fortunately, this will likely be Goodwin’s function in Chicago.
