The Panthers brought in a new coach in Matt Rhule and linebacker Luke Keuchly retired, which is bringing about a rebuild in Carolina. Newton, 30, played just two games last season with various injuries. He also missed the end of the 2018 season with a shoulder injury. With injuries wearing him down, the Panthers have decided to turn the page to a new chapter.
Newton has thrown for 29,041 yards, 182 touchdowns and 108 interceptions on 59.6 percent completion. He has also rushed for 4,806 yards and 58 touchdowns in his career.
Carolina has a top 10 pick and also is pursuing quarterbacks in free agency. According to ESPN’s Dianni Russini, the Panthers are looking to sign Teddy Bridgewater.
