The Arizona Cardinals made a surprising move on Monday. They have reportedly cut running back Eno Benjamin despite him playing well after being forced into the RB1 role due to injuries on the roster. The exact reasoning as to why he was cut is unknown at time of writing.
ESPN reporter Josh Weinfuss reported the news via Twitter on Monday.
Benjamin was a seventh round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. He was able to stay in the state in which he went to college (Arizona State University). He only played in nine games last season, after not playing at all during the 2020 season.
This season, Benjamin has played in all 10 games, but was able to start three of them. He already has career marks in rushing and receiving yards, with 299 and 184 respectively. He’s also rushed for two touchdowns on the year. He is now able to be claimed by any team.
