Three days after Cameron Dantzler was waived by the Minnesota Vikings, he has a new team. The Washington Commanders have claimed Dantzler off of waivers, and will control his rights unless he is waived again.
The Washington Commanders’ official Twitter account announced the news on Monday.
Dantzler has been a Viking since being drafted in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He played at Mississippi State from 2017-2019, earning a Second Team All-SEC bid in 2018. He was also named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team in 2020.
In 10 games in 2022, Dantzler defended five passes, forced a fumble and collected 50 combined tackles. This was the first year of his young career in which he did not record an interception, grabbing two in 2020 and one in 2021.
