Brown, 27, was acquired by the Bengals before last season. The Bengals gave him a three-year deal worth $16.5 million before this season and have cut him midway through the first year of the deal.
The Cincinnati native had 52 total tackles this season. He can now be claimed off waivers by other teams.
Cutting Brown will allow the Bengals to give more playing to young linebackers such as Germaine Pratt and Jordan Evans.
