Kyle Shanahan said Jimmy Garoppolo’s high ankle sprain isn’t severe, he will be week to week and he has a chance to play Sunday vs. Giants.

Garoppolo appeared to sustain a leg injury early during the contest during the Jets, but finished playing the entire first half. This was extremely impressive once news broke that it was an ankle sprain. Garoppolo was torching the Jets defense going 14/16 for 131 yards and two touchdowns. backup quarterback Nick Mullens finished the game and secured the win for the 49ers.
Garoppolo has the most wins among quarterbacks since becoming the 49ers starting quarterback in Week 12 of the 2017 season. In his first full season as a starter he led the 49ers to the Super Bowl and led for a majority of the game versus the Kansas City Chiefs. Though he has an impressive resume Garoppolo has received criticisms about his play or whether he is the right quarterback for the 49ers.
The good news for Garoppolo is that is injury is listed week to week. So there is a small chance that he even plays on Sunday versus the Giants. Depending on his progress he could be reactivated in a week or two. Until the Mullens will be the starter of the 49ers.
