The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Zak Zinter 2024 NFL Draft Profile.
Zak Zinter Background
Position: Interior Offensive Lineman
School: Michigan
Size: 6-foot-6, 309 pounds
Class: Senior
2023 stats: First Team All-American
Zinter has been a mainstay on one of college football’s best offensive lines over his career. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a three-star recruit in the class of 2020, Zinter signed with Michigan out of Massachusetts. He started in four of six games during the 2020 season. In 2021, he helped Michigan win the Joe Moore Award as the Nation’s best offensive line. The Wolverines won 12 games that season. For the 2022 season, he helped the team win the Joe Moore Award again and he was named First Team All-Big Ten. His play helped Michigan make the College Football Playoff that season. For the 2023 season, Zinter was an All-American. He led Michigan to a National Championship.
Following the National Championship, Zinter declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He currently is projected to be a third to fifth-round pick.
Zak Zinter Strengths
Zinter has a solid frame for the NFL level at 6-foot-6 and 309 pounds. He has room to add to his frame at the next level, but has a solid starting point. He also has solid arm length at 33 and 1/2 inches as well, which helps him control his blocks.
He has a good knowledge of the game in a few different ways. Zinter recognizes where pressure is coming from and can pick it up. He can also communicate and pass off blockers on stunts and twists. Zinter understands positioning and leverage well too.
His athleticism is decent for the position. Zinter can move well forward and laterally. While run blocking, he is able to get to the second level and make blocks on moving targets. As a pass blocker, he has the ability to move laterally initial in his reps.
Zak Zinter Weaknesses
One thing that will be impacting his draft stock is his injury. He broke his leg in November and wasn’t able to work out at the NFL Combine. His draft stock shouldn’t be impacted too much, but he not being able to go through the entire draft process could hold him back.
While he has decent strength, Zinter can have trouble moving people in the run game. He will execute his assignment, but won’t clear huge holes by driving people out of the way. Zinter can also struggle with strong defenders.
He has solid athleticism, but can struggle in a few areas. Zinter doesn’t get the quickest start to plays, which can set him back. While he can move well laterally, his quickness to recover can give him some problems if he is beat.
Projected Draft Range: Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
Draft Grade: Fourth Round Pick
