The 2025 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Travis Hunter NFL Draft Profile.
Travis Hunter Background

Hunter was a highly-touted recruit in the class of 2022, who shocked the world by signing with Jackson State at the FCS level. He played one season for Deion Sanders there, then followed Coach Prime to Colorado where he has spent the last two seasons. In 2023, Hunter had 57 catches for 721 yards and five touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, he registered three interceptions and five passes defended. Hunter improved in the 2024 season, which led to him winning the Heisman Trophy. He finished the season with 1,258 receiving yards, four interceptions and 11 passes defended.
Following the 2024 season, Hunter declared for the 2025 NFL Draft. He is a projected early first-round pick.
Travis Hunter Strengths
Hunter is an elite athlete and that was shown time and time again on both sides of the ball. He has good acceleration and speed, matching up with some other top receivers. As a route-runner and a corner, he showed great agility. He has the ability to go up and get balls in the air or pull in passes that are off his frame. There won’t be many athletes in the NFL like him.
He is versatile in more than just the ability to play offense and defense. Hunter can play both man and zone coverage very well. In man-to-man, he mirrors receivers well and can match up with them athletically. When he plays zone, he uses his eyes well and makes plays on the ball with great anticipation. Hunter can fit into whatever scheme a team runs.
His ball skills, on both sides of the ball to be clear, are amazing. He shows good ball-tracking ability on both offense and defense. Hunter then has the ability to go and get the football, fighting in the air for it well and high-pointing the ball. He can make incredible plays on the ball, even if it is way off his frame.
Travis Hunter Weaknesses
Whether he plays offense, defense or both at the next level, Hunter needs to add some strength to his frame. He was listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, which is a solid height for a corner or wide receiver, but skinny. This will help him provide more physical coverage and fight it off at the next level.
In press coverage, he could do better. He often falls a step behind when playing in press. Added physicality will help, but he can also work on his technique, as he gives up too much space to wide receivers in the early phases of their routes.
His run support and tackling could improve as well. He made a great tackle that forced a fumble with the game on the line, so the ability is in there, but the desire to help in the run doesn’t always show up. Adding strength will help him, but so too will putting more of a focus on it at the next level.
