The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Roger Rosengarten 2024 NFL Draft Profile.
Roger Rosengarten Background
Position:Â Offensive Tackle
School:Â Washington
Size:Â 6-foot-5, 308 pounds
Class: Redshirt Junior
2023 stats:Â All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention
Rosengarten helped Washington have two great years when he was an impact player. Now he is in the 2024 NFL Draft.
As a four-star recruit in the class of 2020, Rosengarten signed with Washington out of Colorado. He played in one game his first season, redshirting that year. Rosengarten then played in four games the next season. In 2022, he entered the starting lineup earning All-Pac-12 Second Team honors (PFF). He helped Washington win 11 games that season. In 2023, he was an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention (Pac-12). Rosengarten led the team all the way to the National Championship Game behind his solid play.
Following the National Championship Game, Rosengarten declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a day-two pick.
Roger Rosengarten Strengths
Rosengarten moves extremely well for an offensive tackle prospect with good athleticism. He can mirror pass rushers well and get to the second level to block moving targets in the run game. His flexibility is solid as well. There won’t be many questions about him fitting in athletically at the next level.
With Washington having a left-handed quarterback, Rosengarten was tasked with protecting his blindside. He did well in that area. As mentioned, he is able to mirror pass rushers well, staying in front of them. They have trouble getting around the edge on him because of his movement abilities and flexibility. He can be trusted in pass protection.
He has a great demeanor for an offensive tackle. Rosengarten continually looks for work. He finishes his blocks and is not afraid to block multiple people in one play. His motor continually keeps going, which shows his stamina and aggressiveness.
Roger Rosengarten Weaknesses
Rosengarten has average play strength for the position. He makes up for it with his aggression, but he can give up ground to bull rushers. There are also limitations in the running game. To help correct these issues, Rosengarten can add to his frame, hopefully without compromising his athleticism.
His hand usage can improve to help him win more at the next level. He can get his hands ready to strike quicker to get an early edge on defenders. Rosengarten also needs to get his hands inside and not let them get too wide to help him control his matchup.
He is a solid run blocker and will fulfill his assignments, but he can sometimes struggle to move defenders off their spots. Added strength will help, but so too will keeping his pad level low and driving through them. If he can improve as a run blocker, he will be a more well-rounded offensive tackle.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
Draft Grade: Second Round Pick
