The bowl season gives fans and scouts alike a chance to analyze NFL Draft prospects against solid competition. Bowl scheduling allows all eyes to be on each game. Here are the NFL Draft prospects in the 2020 Arizona Bowl.
San Jose State Spartans Draft Prospects
Tre Walker, WR
Walker has been a great player for the Spartans over the last four seasons. He has 182 receptions for 2,709 yards and 12 touchdowns in his career. For the 2020 season, Walker has 38 receptions for 546 yards and four touchdowns in seven games played.
He isn’t the biggest receiver at 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, but he can make plays. Walker could line up on the outside or in the slot at the next level, which increases his value a bit. He is a projected late-round pick or undrafted free agent.
Projected Draft Range: Sixth Round Pick-Undrafted Free Gent
Tre Webb, S
Webb is a former corner who moved to safety for the Spartans, but has seen the field a lot in his career. He has 208 total tackles, 11 passes defended and one interception in his career. This season, Webb has 47 total tackles, four passes defended and 3.5 tackles for loss.
Webb has solid size, at 6-foot and 202 pounds, for an NFL defensive back. With his versatility in the secondary in college, he may be able to make a roster. Webb is a projected undrafted free agent in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects
QB Nick Starkel (UFA), WR Bailey Gaither (UFA), LB Tysyn Parker (UFA), S Jay Lenard (UFA)
Ball State Cardinals Draft Prospects
Jaylin Thomas, LB
Thomas has been all over the field making tackles for the Cardinals over the last four seasons. He has 285 total tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks in his career. For the 2020 season, he has 74 total tackles, five tackles for loss and 1.0 sack.
He has decent size for an NFL linebacker at 6-foot-1 and 235 pounds. Thomas will need to prove he can have more of an impact against the pass, whether through blitzing or in coverage. Currently, Thomas is a projected undrafted free agent.
Kaleb Slaven, OT
Slaven was redshirted in his first season on Ball State’s campus. As a redshirt freshman, he started at left tackle, but suffered a season-ending injury. The same thing happened during his sophomore season. He returned to start at left tackle as a junior and senior with the Cardinals.
At 6-foot-4 and 284 pounds, Slaven is a little undersized for an NFL tackle. He may need to move inside, but either way he will need to add more weight to his frame. Slaven is a projected undrafted free agent in the 2021 NFL Draft.
Projected Draft Range: Undrafted Free Agent
Other Draft Prospects
*Caleb Huntley opted out to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. He is a projected sixth round pick to undrafted free agent.
OG/C Curtis Blackwell (UFA), Edge James Jennette
