The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Luke Goedeke 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Luke Goedeke Background
Position:Â Offensive Guard/Center
Size:Â 6-foot-5, 312 pounds
Class:Â Senior
2021 stats:Â First Team All-MAC
Goedeke overcame injury to become a very good college player for Central Michigan. Now, he is heading to the 2022 NFL Draft.
At Central Michigan, Goedeke started his career at tight end and redshirted his first season on campus. He made the move to right tackle and started for the Chippewas in 2019. Central Michigan went 8-6 that season. He missed the 2020 season due to injury, but he returned in 2021 and made the All-Mac First Team. The Chippewas went 9-4 and won the Sun Bowl.
After changing positions and improving at tackle, Goedeke is probably moving to the interior for the next level. He is a projected mid-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Luke Goedeke Strengths
Goedeke has a solid frame for an NFL offensive lineman. He filled out his frame decently well as a former tight end. Goedeke stands 6-foot-5 and 312 pounds, which is above average for an interior lineman. While he doesn’t have great arm length, Goedeke has good strength.
His run blocking is a real plus and should be appreciated on the interior. He has great dedication and gets off the line of scrimmage quickly. Goedeke tries to move his opponent completely out of the way, which clears big holes for running backs. He can also get to the second level decently well.
He has a solid football IQ, especially for a player that is new to playing offensive line. Goedeke showed a good understanding of his blocking scheme and of opponents’ pressures. He can pick up blitzers, stunts and twists when it occurs. Goedeke should be able to pick up things quickly at the next level.
Luke Goedeke Weaknesses
As mentioned, Goedeke has below-average length. That means he will have to get his hands on defenders early and show good grip strength to maintain his blocks. His move inside should make his length issues a little better as well.
He has the tendency to lean and lunge, which gets him off balance. Goedeke needs to trust his technique and stay patient throughout a play. Getting off balance results in him losing a rep, so keeping it is essential at the next level.
While he picked up offensive tackle well, Goedeke will have a lot of transitions for the next level. He will have to get used to blocking better athletes and he’ll have to learn a new offensive line position on the interior. It could take him a while to develop.
Projected Draft Range:Â Third Round Pick-Fifth Round Pick
