The 2024 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Kiran Amegadjie 2024 NFL Draft Profile.
Kiran Amegadjie Background
Position: Offensive Tackle
School: Yale
Size: 6-foot-5, 326 pounds
Class: Senior
2023 stats: First Team All-Ivy
Amegadjie was an impact player for the Bulldogs over the last three years. He is now entering the NFL Draft out of the Ivy League.
He signed on with Yale out of the 2020 recruiting class. Amegadjie stepped into the starting lineup at right guard in 2021 and was an All-Ivy Honorable Mention, as Yale went 5-5. In 2022, Amegadjie moved to left tackle and was named to the All-Ivy First Team. The Bulldogs went 8-2 on the season. For the 2023 season, Amegadjie helped Yale go 7-3 and was named All-Ivy First Team. His season was cut short due to a quad injury.
Following the injury and the season’s conclusion, Amegadjie has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a mid-round pick.
Kiran Amegadjie Strengths
Amegadjie has good size for an NFL offensive tackle at 6-foot-5 and 326 pounds. With his size, comes great length, which he uses well to keep defenders at bay. His size also gives him great strength to anchor in pass protection and to move defenders when run blocking.
For his size, Amegadjie has great athleticism. He has the ability to stay in front of pass rushers with his footwork. Amegadjie has solid lateral quickness to recover with defenders changing positions. In the running game, he is able to get to the second level and block linebackers well. He has solid flexibility to hold up on the edge.
Right now, he is solid as a run blocker. Amegadjie has good grip strength to sustain blocks. He can also move decently well to get to the second level. With his mobility and strength, he could slide into an NFL lineup and hold up in the running game.
Kiran Amegadjie Weaknesses
The biggest question for Amegadjie is his lack of snaps against quality competition. He played at the FCS level, where he was both more athletic and stronger than most of the players he was going up against. In the NFL, he won’t be able to win just based on tools alone and will need to develop his game.
Amegadjie can improve his hand usage to be better at the next level. He can have stronger hands when contacting defenders. On top of the power, Amegadjie can have better hand placement. There are times when his hands get too wide and it hurts his ability to sustain the block.
He needs to focus on keeping his pad level low. Amegadjie can stand straight too often, which makes him lose his power. Defenders are able to shed blocks sooner in the running game and when he is pass-blocking. He can stay low and use his flexibility better to win more matchups.
