The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Kenyon Green 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Kenyon Green Background
Position:Â Offensive Guard/Center
Size:Â 6-foot-4, 324 pounds
Class:Â Junior
2021 stats:Â 2021 First Team All-American
Green was able to get experience at every position on the offensive line during his college career. He is now taking that experience to the NFL.
As a high school recruit, Green was an All-American who stayed in the state of Texas to play for the Texas A&M Aggies. He started immediately for the Aggies and helped them go 8-5 in his first season. Green started at left guard as a sophomore and was named an All-American by several outlets. He was a part of a successful 9-1 season for the Aggies, which ended with a win in the Orange Bowl. For the 2021 season, Green was named an All-American again and got snaps all over the offensive line due to injuries. The Aggies won eight games for another solid season.
After the season, Green declared for the 2022 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a first or second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Kenyon Green Strengths
Green has a good frame for an interior offensive lineman. He has good height at 6-foot-4 and solid weight at 325 pounds. His length may not be good enough for the outside, but his length is great for an interior offensive lineman. Like most rookies, he may need to add a little bit of muscle to his frame, but he has a really good start to having an NFL-worthy frame.
His versatility will be something that every team will love. He has experience at every position on the offensive line. In a pinch, he could play tackle in the NFL, but his best fit is on the interior. He can play guard or center, which helps his value. No matter what the position of need on the interior that a team has, they can take Green and play him there.
He is a proven run blocker at any position on the line. Green maintains good leverage and generates good power to move defenders out of the way, clearing big holes. He gets to the second level after making his initial block and running backs can follow him.
Kenyon Green Weaknesses
Green does tend to struggle with super athletic pass rushers. His problems can occur when he is on an island, which is why he will move inside at the next level. Quick pass rushers and ones that can bend will give him trouble, even if they are on the interior.
He needs to improve his awareness at the next level. Green can be late to pick up blitzers and also has trouble with passing off twists and stunts. When the speed of the game increases at the next level, Green will need to improve the time in which he sees how a defense is attacking him.
There were far too many times where Green was beat and decided to hold. In some regards, it is good that he wanted to protect the quarterback, but he needs to sustain his blocks longer without holding. Cleaning up the penalties will make him much more reliable.
Projected Draft Range:Â First Round Pick-Second Round Pick
