The 2022 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Greg Dulcich 2022 NFL Draft Profile.
Greg Dulcich Background
Position: Tight End
Size: 6-foot-4, 243 pounds
Class: Redshirt Junior
2021 stats: 42 receptions, 725 receiving yards, 17.3 yards per catch, 5 touchdowns
Dulcich rose from a former walk-on to a star tight end at UCLA. Now, he is trying to take the next step and make it in the NFL.
As a three-star recruit, Dulcich decided to walk on to UCLA. He played sparingly in 2018 and redshirted. In 2019, he had eight receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown. The following season, Dulcich stepped into the starting lineup with 26 receptions for 517 yards and five touchdowns. UCLA went 3-4 in a COVID-shortened season. He improved in 2021 with 42 receptions for 725 yards and five touchdowns. The Bruins won eight games during the 2021 season, but their bowl game was canceled.
Even though he had eligibility remaining, Dulcich decided to turn pro. He is currently projected to be a day two pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Greg Dulcich Strengths
As a former receiver, Dulcich is an athletic tight end. He has solid speed and body control. He also has solid jumping ability and agility. With his athleticism, Dulcich presents a matchup problem for both linebackers and safeties.
His ability to run after the catch is among the best of the tight ends in the class. He has solid speed and is elusive in the open field. His vision helps him find open space and his strength makes him tough for defensive backs to bring down. The end of the play is usually well after Dulcich catches the ball.
He has solid hands and rarely has drops. Dulcich can catch the ball in traffic and also has a solid catch radius. With his ability to find the soft spot in the zone, Dulcich will have to continue to catch balls in traffic in the pros.
Greg Dulcich Weaknesses
Dulcich has added a lot of weight to his frame since transitioning from wide receiver to tight end, but more is needed. He has below-average play strength, which really limits his ability as an in-line blocker. He’ll need to fill out his frame a little bit more to be an asset on running plays.
As mentioned, he needs more strength, but he will also need better technique as a blocker. His hands can get too wide and he can lose leverage too often. With more strength and technique, he could really improve as a blocker, as he has shown a willingness to put effort in.
While he is a solid route-runner, Dulcich can work on getting in and out of his breaks quicker. He can sometimes round off his routes, which limits the amount of separation he is able to get. If he can fine-tune his route-running, Dulcich can be a matchup nightmare.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
