Cole Bishop Strengths
Bishop has solid size for an NFL safety. He stands 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, which will make him look right at home for the NFL. His size allows him to play in the box and help against the run, as well as match up with bigger targets. He has solid play strength for the position.
He tested well at the NFL Combine and that shows up on tape. Bishop had a 4.45 40-yard dash time, which shows up on tape with his good speed and range. He has solid acceleration and agility as well, helping him to react to plays quickly
His versatility will be great for modern NFL defenses. He can come down in the box and help support the run pretty well. Bishop can man cover tight ends with some success. He can also play deep zone coverages with some success, although leaving him in single high will leave some mixed results.
Cole Bishop Weaknesses
While he has good size, his arms measured at less than 30 inches. This will make his tackling reach a little shorter than other players. His short reach will also make it harder for him to match up with bigger targets and tight ends at the catchpoint, although he has done well in those matchups at the collegiate level.
In zone coverage, Bishop has a few inconsistencies. He needs to show better eye balance between the quarterback and the players in his zone. Bishop can lose his bearings a little bit and give up catches. He can also leave his zone, as he is eager to make plays on the ball.
Against the run, Bishop could see the field more quickly. He can overrun plays while in pursuit. Bishop can also get caught up on blocks and can struggle to get through traffic to get to the ball. With more work, he can improve his run defense even more.
Projected Draft Range: Second Round Pick-Third Round Pick
