Despite all the unknowns, the NBA season officially starts on Tuesday. While there is a season to look forward to, it is going to look different then any other NBA season. Most NBA teams are not allowing fans in their stadium or allowing a very limited number of fans in the stadium for the beginning of the season. Having no fans will definitely have an impact on players and the energy on the court. While this is different, some teams experienced this factor in the NBA Bubble. The teams who did not go to the Bubble will be at a little bit of a disadvantage in this case.
The Ring Ceremony
The Los Angeles Lakers have great experience with the newly empty stadiums since they played the maximum amount of games in the Bubble last season. Despite not allowing fans in the Staples Center, the Lakers are still having their ring ceremony ahead of their first game on Tuesday. This ring ceremony happens to fall on the game where the Lakers play the Clippers. The rivalry in Los Angeles makes this an exciting first game for Lakers fans. This will be the first ring ceremony in the NBA’s history without fans in attendance. A ring ceremony that looks a little different is still giving the city of Los Angeles a championship ring.
The Regular Season
While the excitement of a ring ceremony is something to look forward to, the Lakers are ready for the season. The Lakers are ready to work after they celebrated the championship. Last season showed the Lakers the chemistry, dedication and focus it takes to win a championship. Their focus, chemistry and dedication need to remain constant throughout the whole season to have a chance at a repeat championship. The Lakers want to go back to back and tonight starts this goal. The championship is not going to be won without the whole team locked in. They have the talent, the Lakers just need to continue the momentum they had last season. And that all starts tonight.
