Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has been named the next head coach of the USA men’s basketball national team. He has officially been announced to be the team’s head coach from 2022-2024, but can be extended.
The Warriors’ official Twitter account reported the news about their head coach on Monday.

Kerr is an eight-time NBA Champion. As a player, he won three titles with the late-90’s Bulls and two more with Tim Duncan’s Spurs. As a coach, he has reached the NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors five times (all in consecutive years), winning the championship in three of those trips.
The previous USA men’s basketball national team head coach, Gregg Popovich, won the gold medal in 2020 with a depleted team. He was also Kerr’s head coach during those Spurs years in which Kerr won two titles as well as bringing him along as an assistant for the 2020 gold medal win.
