The Spurs defeated the Thunder 98-94 to close out their Summer League on Sunday.
San Antonio was shorthanded once again in this one. They were without Victor Wembanyama, Dominick Barlow, Julian Champagnie, Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley but it did not matter.
Erik Stevenson led the team with 23 points and also grabbed seven rebounds. He only shot seven of 23 from the field for the game but it was just enough to take down OKC.
Charles Bediako had 17 points and 11 rebounds. Second-round pick Sidy Cissoko scored 10 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had six assists. Sir’Jabari Rice dropped 13 points and had 4 steals in his second Summer League game.
The Spurs grabbed an early 17-9 lead. They led through the third quarter 80-71 before the Thunder tied the game at 84 in the fourth. They then once again were tied at 91, but the Spurs were able to hold on for the 98-94 victory despite a poor shooting night.
Oklahoma City was led in scoring by Jared Butler who had 31 points. Cason Wallace scored 13 points and the Spurs were able to shut down Ousmane Dieng who scored just 8 points on 3-11 shooting.
The Spurs finish the summer 5-2. They went 2-0 in the California Classic and 3-2 in Las Vegas. San Antonio now shifts ahead toward training camp and eventually the start of the season in October. First though, the Spurs have to make more roster decisions.
They have too many players on the roster after acquiring Cameron Payne from the Suns and Reggie Bullock from the Mavericks. They also have to make a decision on who gets the last two-way deal. More than likely this will be between Sidy Cissoko and Dominick Barlow.
