The Kings have traded their young, 6-foot-11 forward Skal Labissiere to the Trail Blazers, for second-year player Caleb Swanigan.
Labissiere has only played in 13 games this season, and has averaged just 8.7 minutes and 2.8 points in those games. This is well below his 8.0 points per game average for his young career.
It is clear that the Blazers value Labissiere as a serviceable bench power forward/center combo under the right tutelage. Although they were still able to trade for him without either team surrendering a draft pick.
Perhaps in an effort to get even younger, the Kings took another unproven forward in Swanigan away from Portland. Swanigan sports just a 1.9 points per game average to go with under 3 rebounds per game (both for the 2019 season and his career).
Both teams see something in these young forwards that prompted the trades, although the face value for both teams is unclear as of now.
