The Washington Wizards have traded Rui Hachimura to the Los Angeles Lakes in exchange for Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski was the first to report the news.
Hachimura, 24, did not agree to a rookie extension before the season with the Wizards and is rumored to have requested a trade. The ninth-overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft was averaging 13 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game this season with the Wizards. He has averaged 13 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game for his career.
Nunn is being sent to the Wizards after joining the Lakers before the 2021-22 season. He missed that season with a knee injury, but is averaging 6.7 points per game in 39 appearances this season. Nunn averages 13 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game.
The Lakers will hope that Hachimura can help the team improve in the standings, as they currently sit at 12th in the West.
Washington is 12th in the East, but are prioritizing re-signing Kyle Kuzma according to Wojnarowski.
