Gay was a role player with the Spurs in 2021. He started only one game, playing in 63. He scored 11.4 points per game, shooting over 38 percent from three-point range. His main skill set is his scoring efficiency, hitting no less than 46.6 percent during his first three years in San Antonio. It took a small dip in 2021, as San Antonio missed the playoffs for just the third time since the 1996-1997 season.
Now, Gay will join one of the most prolific three-point shooting teams in the history of the NBA. The Western Conference’s number one seed in 2021 adds another efficient wing.
