The Regular Season is (almost) here
The return of NBA basketball grows closer. As of now, the regular season is nearly two months away. The season begins towards the end of October, and preseason starts in September. With the season nearly approaching, the NBA is ready to make an announcement. According to reports, the NBA will announce its regular-season schedule.
Summer Madness
The NBA will look different next season after some of the league’s best players switched teams. In the offseason, players such as Anthony Davis, Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant left their teams and will start fresh elsewhere. Davis joined the Lakers after they agreed to a deal with the Pelicans. Davis joins Lakers star forward LeBron James as they Lakers fight to reach contender status. Then, Durant signed with the Brooklyn Nets, and Kawhi Leonard joined the Los Angeles Clippers.
Durant and Leonard are not the only players to join their respective teams. Kyrie Irving joined the Nets to play alongside Durant. The duo won’t play together in 2019-20 (due to Durant’s injury), but will the Nets an exciting duo. The Nets also signed former Knicks center DeAndre Jordan. With the addition of Durant, Irving and Jordan, the Nets are a top team of the East.
On the other hand, the Clippers acquired Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Clippers made the move shortly after signing Leonard. With this move, the Clippers instantly became contenders and creates/revives a Lakers/Clippers rivalry. So, the moves make the Western Conference even better.
Other moves that happened in the offseason include Kemba Walker signing with the Boston Celtics and Russell Westbrook joining the Houston Rockets. Walker signed with the Celtics in free agency, and the Oklahoma City Thunder traded Westbrook for Chris Paul.
The offseason was exciting and gives fans matchups to keep an eye on.
The 2019-20 Season
The NBA will announce the complete regular-season schedule on Monday at 3:00 PM ET. Shams Charania reported that the Toronto Raptors will receive their championship rings to open the season. They will play the New Orleans Pelicans that night.
The 2019-20 NBA season is shaping up to be an exciting one. The season will feature great teams and great matchups. When the NBA announces the regular-season schedule, we’ll get a better idea of when those matchups take place.
