Lamar Odom is most notably known for this 14 season NBA career or his marriage with the famous Khole Kardashion. Odom was a teammate to Kobe Bryant and was a seven season member of the Lakers. Odom had a successful career in the NBA. He won two championships with the Lakers in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. For his career, Odom averaged 13.3 points per game, 8.4 rebounds per game, and 33.4 minutes per game.
Odom’s career ended in 2013 and after that he faced some serious issues with addiction. After a serious drug overdose in 2015 and a divorce from Khole Kardashion in 2016, Odom decided to turn himself around. Odom has spoke on different occasions about the lasting effects that the almost fatal overdose had on him in the long term. Odom ended up writing a book about his experience and everything he has learned.
The Fight
While Odom no longer plays basketball, he has recently been training for an event. He is set to face Aaron Carter in a three-round Celebrity Boxing Match. The event is scheduled for June 12 at the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. Physically, Odom definitely has the advantage in height and size.
Odom has been training since he signed the deal in January. This shows growth from Odom since his overdose. His health has not been the same since his experience in 2015. Getting back into shape for this boxing match is something that is a sign of recovery for Odom. Both Odom and Carter boast that they have been in the gym training for this match. There has not been a lot of videos released of either fighter’s training but the videos seem to indicate a good match up.
Based on athletic advantage, it seems like Odom should be the clear winner here. The age difference may end up playing a role in the fight though. Odom is 41 years old while Carter is only 33 years old. Odom has mentioned that he used boxing as training when he was playing for the Lakers so he does have experience with it. Hopefully this match will be worth the watch and the two celebrities will bring their best fight.
Lamar Odom has announced plans to compete in a celebrity boxing match this June in Atlantic City, NJ.
Odom is 6-foot-10, but outside of NBA offseason training with former heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, he has limited boxing experience.
