The Sacramento Kings will soon be looking for a new head coach.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, general manager Vlad Divac plans to relieve David Joerger of his coaching duties. Joerger spent three seasons as the Kings’ head coach after three seasons coaching the Grizzlies.

The firing comes at an unexpected time. Joerger led the ascending Kings to their best record since 2006, winning 39 games behind a young core of players. Sacramento has not made the playoffs in nearly 15 years, but were on the cusp this season at ninth in the Western Conference.
The firing comes after Kings ownership gave Divac a contract extension that runs through the 2022-2023 season.
The Kings are rumored to be after Lakers coach Luke Walton, should he be fired, along with former Pelicans coach Monty Wiliams.
Can confirm @wojespn report that Kings GM Vlade Divac will fire coach Dave Joerger today. Lakers coach Luke Walton – if available – is the clear frontrunner here, per sources. Former New Orleans coach Monty Williams is also a strong candidate, as is Spurs asst. Ettore Messina.
