Ja Morant is returning to the Grizzlies on a big contract extension. The Grizzlies have given Morant a five-year, $193 million rookie maximum extension. The contract could become worth up to $231 million over the five years allotted to him.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Friday.

In 2019, the Memphis Grizzlies drafted Morant with the second overall pick of that year’s draft. Since being drafted, he has earned 2020’s Rookie of the Year, an NBA All-Star appearance, an NBA All-Second Team nod and a Most Improved Player award.
Morant led the Grizzlies to the playoffs in 2022 after the best year of his career so far. He averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 rebounds per game, all of which were career highs. In the playoffs, he averaged 27.1 points, eight rebounds, 9.8 assists and two steals in his nine game run.
