The White Sox have been in the headlines recently, as they are one of the teams pushing for Bryce Harper. Now, more rumors have popped up regarding the White Sox and right fielder Avisail Garcia. It appears after six years with the team, the White Sox are looking to move Avisail Garcia.
The White Sox Are Looking To Move Avisail Garcia
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the Sox front office is looking to trade Garcia. He also believes that the White Sox will non-tender him if they are unable to trade him.
According to a source, the White Sox are actively trying to trade Avisail Garcia. There’s a sense within the industry that Chicago will non-tender Garcia if they’re unable to deal him.

Garcia struggled in 2018 due to nagging injuries throughout the season. At the end of the season, he also needed surgery, just adding on to the injuries he dealt with. Due to those injuries, his slash line in 2018 was a measly .236/.281/.438 through 93 games.
He did, however, see an increase in his home run production, slugging 19, which was a career high. Garcia was coming off of a tremendous 2017, where he made the all-star team and had an impressive slash line of .330/.380/.506 with 18 homers and 80 RBIs.
The 2018 season didn’t tell us much about if Avi has truly developed or if he just had one really good year. This will obviously make some teams cautious about acquiring Garcia. That with the added injury problems this adds even more concern over Garcia’s value.
A big reason the White Sox are looking to move Avisail Garcia is because of their potential off-season moves. The White Sox are looking to add Harper to the team. If the Sox were to acquire him they would need to free up space in right field. Beyond just Bryce Harper, however, they have interest in other outfielders.
Chicago also made an offer to Michael Brantley this off-season. Brantley is a three-time Silver Slugger and is coming off of a fantastic 2018 season. He produced a slash line of .309/.364/.468 with 17 home runs. The White Sox also have their top prospect Eloy Jimenez ready for the majors so space in that outfield is tight.
After the issues regarding Avi’s health last season, the White Sox should look to move him for whatever they can get considering finding a trade partner for Garcia could prove difficult.
