The Red Sox lose the series to the Giants after winning the first game, and then losing the last two on walk-offs.
Game 1: Red Sox win 3-2
The Red Sox won the first game against the Giants 3-2. The offense came off an RBI Double from Adam Duvall and a two-run homer by Triston Casas his 16th overall and seventh this month.
Kutter Crawford also pitched a good game, going almost six innings, giving up only one run, and getting seven strikeouts.
Game 2: Red Sox lose 3-2
The Red Sox’s struggles were apparent in this game, going scoreless for the first eight innings. The Giants scored once against James Paxton, who threw a good game, getting five strikeouts in five innings. Going into the ninth, the Giants had a two-to-nothing lead and seemed like they were going to get an easy win.
However, a slam for two runs by Justin Turner in the top of the ninth put the Sox back in the game.
This put the Red Sox in a tight spot, as they had to hold the Giants for three outs to go to extra innings. That did not happen, as Kenley Jansen gave up a walk-off home run to J.D. Davis giving the Giants the win.
Game 3: Giants win 4-3
For the series finale, the Red Sox tried their best to get the win, but it just was not enough. Going into the ninth, it was tied 3-3, with homers from Turner and Duvall keeping the Sox in the game.
The game went into extra innings. However, they could not score, and the Giants were able to walk off again. This gave the Giants the series win.
While the Red Sox lose the series to the Giants, they move on to Seattle to face the Mariners on July 31.
