The San Diego Padres have completed a trade with the Miami Marlins for Tanner Scott according to Jeff Passan. They will also receive pitcher Bryan Hoeing.
Scott has a 1.18 ERA in 44 appearances this season for the Marlins. In his eight-year career, he has a 3.63 ERA while playing for the Orioles and Marlins.
Hoeing has started two games for the Marlins, but has mostly been used as a reliever. He has an ERA of 2.70 this season.
The Padres are getting one of the best relief pitchers on the market, which should help their bullpen. Their relievers have an ERA of 4.17 this season. They currently are 57-51 as they look to make a push for the playoffs.
Miami has traded several pieces away before the trade deadline as they look to rebuild. The Marlins are receiving LHP Robby Snelling, RHP Adam Mazur, IF Graham Pauley and IF Jay Beshears.
