Nicholas Castellanos has been with Detroit for all seven years of his career. He has a career line of .274/.324/.459 with the team and has a very similar line in 2019 at .273/.328/.462. Castellanos can play third base and the outfield, and none of those positions are out of the equation yet. He will give this Cubs team a lot of depth down the stretch, especially against left-handed pitching.
The Tigers are recieving former first-round pitcher Alex Lange. Through almost three minor league seasons, Lange has a career ERA of 4.62. He’s reached double-A, but was with high A Myrtle Beach at the time of the trade. Lange actually pitched pretty well in double-A with an ERA of 3.92 through seven starts. However, after being demoted the 23-year-old has a 7.36 ERA through 11 starts with Myrtle Beach this season.
Paul Richan is also heading to Detroit. Richan was also with high A Myrtle Beach at the time of the trade. He has an impressive 3.97 ERA through 17 starts with the club.
