His stats aren’t the only thing that proves he is the future for the Mariners, but also his massive contract extension. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, in August he signed a massive long-term extension that guarantees the 21-year-old outfielder $210 million and could max out at $470 million, which would be the richest deal in American sports history. The initial guarantee is 12 years and $210 million, reports Ken Rosenthal. The contract deal will begin next season, which gets Rodríguez through the 2034 season, as mentioned in the Mariners’ announcement. Rodríguez’s swagger and smile can light up a stadium and he will be a shining light for the Seattle Mariners’ bright future.
