Left-handed pitcher Eduardo Rodriguez has signed a new deal with the Detroit Tigers. The contract is worth a reported $77 million over five years. Prior to the deal, Rodriguez had spent his entire career with the Boston Red Sox.
ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported the news via Twitter on Monday.

A pitcher in the majors since 2015, Rodriguez has a career ERA of 4.16 and a win-loss record of 64-39. Those numbers do not include the shortened 2020 season, due to him opting out. Rodriguez contracted COVID-19 in August, then decided to sit out the entire season to deal with some health issues which stemmed from the virus.
In 2018, he won the World Series with the Red Sox over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He will now remain in the American League and pitch for the Tigers. Detroit had a record of 77-85 in 2021, which was only good for third in the AL Central.
