The Toronto Blue Jays have traded for reliever Brad Hand from the Washington Nationals according to Jesse Dougherty. Toronto will send Triple-A catcher Riley Adams to the Nationals in return.

Hand, 31, has a 3.59 ERA in 42.2 innings pitched this season. For his career, Hand has a 3.65 ERA during his 11-year career.
The Blue Jays are 50-48 and are making a push to make the playoffs this season with the deal. The acquisition of Hand will help a bullpen that has an ERA of 4.09.
Washington, on the other hand, is selling at the trade deadline now with a record of 46-54. They receiver a 25-year-old catcher in Adams, who can be a part of their future plans.
