Magic Arena is one of the best places for players to play multiple formats of Magic: The Gathering. Between Standard, Alchemy, Historic Brawl and Limited – players have a wide variety of options to get their TCG fix. Explorer is the format most competitive players are looking towards to serve as the closest format to paper MTG’s Pioneer format. Slowly but Wizards has added cards to the format with Explorer Anthology bundles. These bundles are created to inject certain cards into Arena without adding them to Standard. On Friday June 30, Wizards of the Coast announced the release of Explorer Anthology 3.
This new anthology set is ushering in 25 new cards to the Explorer format. Better yet, these cards will equally be legal in Historic formats. The Explorer Anthology 3 release date is set for July 18. The bundle will be avilable until October 18. After that, players will have to use wildcard to craft any card from Explorer Anthology 3.

With the announcement, Wizards unveiled just a few cards that players can expect from the latest Explorer Anthology. Historic Brawl players will be happy to see cards like Cyclonic Rift and Eidolon of Blossoms for their deck building needs. Cyclonic Rift is a card that players love to see in their hand, and hate to see across the table. While it doesn’t see much play in other constructed formats, the big blue bounce spell will surely be a great add to Arena.
On the other hand, Explorer players will have a dear old friend enter the format. Deathrite Shaman is a powerful and iconic card that has been banned in both Legacy and Modern due to it’s overall strength as a one-mana card. Tough DRS has yet to find a stable home in Pioneer, it’s entry into Explorer could be a refreshed chance at format domination.
As the clock ticks down to it’s eventual release date, more cards will surely be revealed for Explorer Anthology 3.
