On Friday January 8, Riot Games delivered a livestream to usher in the latest League of Legends ranked season. Riot mentioned plenty of new content for the game, including new skins, champions, and game modes for players to try out. For ranked play, Riot also announced a major change in how players can climb the ladder this season. Starting in 2021, players will no longer need to win a best two out of three series to ranked up in a division.

Riot saw how frustrating promos could be for players trying to grind their way through the ranks. Having to win an additional two games just to move from Silver 4 to Silver 3. In order to make playing ranked and advancing through divisions a bit more fluid, players will simply rank up into the next division once they hit 100 LP.
The promotional series in between ranks like Silver and Gold remain the same. Players will still need to win a best three out of five series to break through to the next tier. The goal is to still have players earn their rank when it comes to leveling up at a tier level, while having the freedom to grind through the divisions.
Starting on January 8, players can start their climb through the ranks in the latest season. Season 11 brings a brand new item system, and plenty of new ways to play the game. With the removal of Divisional promos, players can hopefully see some personal ranked bests to start off the new year.
