Team SoloMid are firing into Week 4 of the LCS with intent after securing their first 2-0 weekend of the Summer Split. It was not an easy task for the six-time North American Champions as they came up against a surging Clutch gaming and fellow powerhouse and longtime rival in Cloud9. TSM kick off the proceeding weekend with Optic Gaming on Saturday, June 22nd and Golden Guardians Sunday, June 23rd.
Optic Gaming
The fire is almost well and truly put out on Optic Gaming’s challenge at the top as they suffered their first two losses of the split at the hands of Cloud9 and Team Liquid. TSM have a great opportunity to put Optic a bridge below the top three with a victory on Saturday. Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg will be the player to watch in this game as he looks to slow down Lee “Crown” Min-ho who is looking like one of the best mid-laners in the league.
Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik will also need to be in fine form heading into the matchup. Last time out Broken Blade had an outstanding game against Cloud9 and will need to maintain that form to keep TSM’s winning streak going. There’s no doubt Optic will be attempting to form a split push composition. A champion like Poppy would work wonders in neutralizing Optic.
Golden Guardians
Golden Guardians will be looking to regain momentum after losing to Counter Logic Gaming last time out. The Mid and Jungle duo will be the key matchup in this game. Jonathan “Grig” Armao will be the player to watch in this series. He will be paired against Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia who looks like an entirely different player as he is able to dictate multiple winning lanes and push his team to victory.
This is why Grig will be tasked with stopping Golden Guardians and Contractz specifically in the early game. Henrik “Froggen” Hansen will also play a key role in the matchup. He is able to consistently apply pressure to and from his lane, even going as far as teams having to force target bans onto him.
Predictions
Despite their opponents having clear paths to victory, Team SoloMid should walk into Rift Rivals with another 2-0 week under their belts. If the Cloud9 game is any indication TSM will have no problem out preparing their opponents in Week 4 and will have strategies in place to make sure their opponents never get going.
