After beating Rogue 3-0, JDG Missing sat down with Michael Termini to discuss the games and the year so far for JDG.
Michael: First things first, how did y’all prepare for the Rogue series and is there anything in particular that made the series such a dominate look for JDG?
JDG Missing: So to be honest, going into this game we just made the normal preparations to show the level of performance that we normally have and we had the usual mindset that we have.
Michael: With that said, Rogue has a couple of specialty picks like Trymbi’s Soraka that he pulled out in Game 3 and some more of those “off meta” supports. As JDG’s support, was there anything that tripped you up a bit?
Missing: In Game 3 when we were already up 2-0 and at match point, we had the expectation that the opponent may have some secret weapons or some off meta picks. Also, we already knew that Soraka was one of Trymbi’s signature picks that we have already practiced against a lot. So we noticed this in their ban pick phase.
Michael: With Yagao not being able to travel to the venue today due to Covid-19 Protocol, has it been any harder for the team to communicate effectively and get into the game day mindset?
Missing: We have made considerations with his health conditions. So for this game, we tried to make less mistakes and to not play too aggressively too much. Luckily, we were able to get a win.
Michael: Speaking of the win, y’all play the winner of T1 RNG. I know the game is tomorrow, but of the two, who would you prefer to play against?
Missing: So we definitely would like the team from our region (LPL) to head up to the semi finals to face against them. I believe the two teams are super strong, so matter which team we face it will be very tough and we are gonna make full preparations to try our best.
Michael: Not to be mean, but you have a bit of history of not making worlds. Being on WE for 3 years, you were never able to make the run despite being a highly praised support. Now that you are finally here, how does it feel to not only make Worlds, but make Semi-Finals?
Missing: I believe this place is a very nice place and very nice tournament. I’m very excited to get to play here.
Michael: Who do you think is the best western, LEC and LCS, Bot Lane in the tournament?
Missing: I would like to choose Rogue’s Bot Lane.
Michael: JDG going into the year was viewed as an upper half LPL team, but not one many were predicting on making a deep run, much less winning the LPL. By Summer, a lot more people were bullish on JDG. Reflecting back on the year, how does it feel to prove the doubters wrong?
Missing: So I believe the reason came from different aspects, but I’d like to say that all five of us really play like a whole. We got very good team work, very good communication and very decent synergy. In the games we just have the ability to sacrifice for others so it just feels like we play as a whole.
Thank you very much to JDG Missing for the interview.
