Clutch Gaming: LCS Week 4 Preview

Despite a heartbreaking loss against TSM, Clutch came out with a major win against FlyQuest to keep themselves at a .500 record. Clutch looks great going into Week 4 and face a huge test on Sunday. Preview their upcoming matches below!

Day 1 Preview – Echo Fox (1-5)

While on paper, Echo Fox’s record may look unimpressive, they have the skill and talent to make it into the LCS playoffs. Furthermore, their only win comes against the 2019 Spring Split champions, Team Liquid. Echo Fox looks to improve their record and clinch another playoff spot. In spite of their record, individuals on Echo Fox’ roster also look impressive while showing they can stand toe-to-toe with MSI finalists and come out victorious.

Top laner, Colin “Solo” Earnest continues to prove himself as a crucial member of Echo Fox’ success. Despite their losses, he still ranks in the Top 3 in damage per minute and in the Top 10 for gold at 10 minutes. His incredible Gangplank play was crucial in Fox’s victory over TL. His productivity and aggressive playstyle in the top lane could cause some problems for Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon.

CG Week 4 Preview

If Echo Fox lets Huni utilize his Rumble during this matchup, it seems that Clutch may have a chance to pull out victory in the top lane. While it’s a fairly obvious counter to Gangplank, it seems that Solo has his best games with the champion and cannot utilize flex picks like Akali and Jayce nearly as well. Lastly, if Nam “Lira” Tae-yoo and Tanner “Damonte” Damonte focus a lot of effort playing top side and giving Huni a favorable match up against Solo, Huni could gain a massive early game lead.

Day 2 Preview – Team Liquid (4-2)

Team Liquid: Week 4 Preview

Despite being in a 6 way tie for first place and suffering some losses during the first two weeks, Team Liquid still looks like the team to beat in the LCS. Not only do they have one of the most stacked rosters in NA, but they have the record and performances to show it. They are currently the only team that is ranked higher than Clutch Gaming in gold at 15 minutes. In addition, Team Liquid as a whole have the best KDA in the league.

Bot lane duo, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in both rank in the top 5 for best KDA. Not only is he ranked number 1 in KDA, but he also ranks in the Top 10 for gold at 10 minutes and Top 10 for CSD at 10 minutes.

Player to Watch

Cody Sun

Cody Sun will have to play out of his mind to stand a chance against arguably the best bot lane duo in NA if not the entire west. Despite all of Doublelift’s statistics Cody Sun still ranks higher than Doublelift in both gold at 10 minutes and CSD at 10 minutes. It’s clear the Cody Sun won’t be completely helpless against the bot lane duo. Furthermore, both players like to push their lanes and play aggressively. If Clutch wants to pull out a win they need to focus their resources into the bot lane and give Cody Sun and Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme tons of ganks and roams.
