After weeks of rumors, the LCS Free Agency period has officially begun. Teams have been working around the clock to put together the best roster they can. Now, the time for discussions is over. The LCS rosters are taking shape for the 2023 LCS Season. One of the moves officially confirmed by 100 Thieves is that they will be signing Doublelift to start in the Bot lane for next year. Even though Worlds 2022 was in NA, the LCS struggled mightily. Cloud9, 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses went a combined 3-15 during the group stages with only EG finishing above fourth due to a tiebreaker. Many had hoped things would be different but it felt like not only were the teams outclasses but that they were far behind on the meta.
Heading into 2023, teams will be looking to make changes that will hopefully propel them toward a title and a better time at Worlds.
Rumors have been swirling since the end of 2020 that Doublelift was looking to get back to the pro level. Many questioned this after a scuffle with TSM’s owner Reginald but now he is back and will certainly be making fans happy with that announcement. There will be questions surrounding how well he will perform given his two-year hiatus and age but, reuniting with Bjergsen for another run feels like magic is truly in the air for the LCS.
100 Thieves are another team that is really going for it in 2023. They are doing the couple of veterans mixed with young players strategy that so many other teams seem to be implementing. With historic players on both ends of the spectrum, this team will be fun to watch if nothing else.
