Earlier this month, Blizzard Entertainment released a brand new game mode inside Hearthstone. While it is very common to see different game types within Hearthstone come around once in a while, Hearthstone Mercenaries is a brand new adventure for players. Mercenaries is a whole different game, and players are hopping right in to try it out.

Thought for the average player, Hearthstone Mercenaries can be a completely new experience. People come to Hearthstone to play a tactical, or sometimes hectic, collectible card game. Hearthstone Mercenaries on the other hand is nothing like the classic game audiences have come to love. So what exactly is Hearthstone Mercenaries?
A New Roguelike Experience
At its core, Hearthstone Mercenaries is a roguelike card game that brings elements from the classic Hearthstone mode. Roguelikes are a game type that pits players against waves of enemies. Players have to create a team of characters to do battle and collect loot. In this version, players can pick up to six cards to send into a dungeon in hopes to fight their way out. Familiar characters, moves and synergies make their way into this new game to make the brand new mode a bit more friendly to all players.
Hearthstone Mercenaries puts a new spin on the genre by bringing in all of the classic Hearthstone themes. Characters like Grommash Hellscream, Anduin Wrynn, and Old Murk-Eye join the fray to collect bounties. Each character is one of three different roles – caster, protector and fighter. Each role has a strength and a weakness against one of the others. It’s a rocks-papers-scissors type of circle, and crafting the perfecting team is vital to surviving the journey.
Players can also send their best team into the arena, and face off against other players in the PVP mode. Hearthstone Mercenaries is out now, so players can get to leveling up their favorite teams and collecting those big bounties.
